Surprises

I am a writer. The book I'm currently working on has handed me a few surprises as I've gone on

Tonight's was a song. My main character has just experienced a huge loss. Another character has arrived and sings her this.

    Accept my tears, oh mother mine
    Let sorrow have its day
    Clear my heart, lady divine
    That I may find my way.
   
    From this pain, mother divine
    Plant a crop of love
    Accept my tears, oh lady mine
    Fallen like rain from above.

    By your leave, oh mother mine
    Peace I long to find
    Touch my heart, lady divine
    And help to still my mind.

    If there is peace, mother divine
    Cleansed with the help of tears
    Blessings to you, oh lady mine
    Down through all my years.
